frequently asked questions:
What is a joy rebel exactly?
Joy Rebel (n): someone who practices the sublime art of being authentically themselves. I coined the phrase to help me connect with my true creativity and happiness and invite you to do the same.
I am dealing with stress/loss/pain/hurt. Can I still be a joy rebel?
Sweetie. YES. Being a joy rebel is not about putting on a happy face and denying life. Life happens and it is often strange, hard, painful or disconcerting. Being a joy rebel is about facing it all. I truly believe that until we do face it, feel it, move through it and move on, we can't connect with joy because all that hurt gets stuck within us. I'm so sorry you are going through a tough time. Know that I understand and I honor the ways you express yourself and however you choose to connect and participate.
What are these mission and do I have to do all of them?
Missions are a way to connect with the joy and beauty in life in tactile, hands on and playful ways. From using your camera to capture images of unexpected art to creating your own super hero image, we dive into fun, art and laughter with the intent of expressing the joy rebel within and letting that energy connect and inspire each other.
Each monday I will suggest a specific theme to explore. You can find an example mission here. We run a pretty lax ship over here at the joy rebellion and frankly, cringe a little at the term 'have to'. There are no requirements, only suggestions.
I'm ready to be a joy warrior. How can I get more involved in the rebellion?
So glad you asked! I've listed several ways to connect, share and inspire here.
How did you get your blogger layout?
Trial and error, a few glasses of wine and this site
What exactly do you do?
When not wearing my joyrebelrockstar cape, I work in a cube at a creative company where I split my time pretty much equally between excel spreadsheets and convincing my coworkers to sing journey songs with me. Okay, truthfully, I have the joyrebelrockstar cape on there as well, but instead of joy rebel, my coworkers tend to use the term 'weirdo'.
Are you happy all the time?
HAHAHAHAHA! Excuse me, I just spit dr pepper all over my computer monitor. The answer to that is, of course, no. I am often cranky, sad, confused and angry. My belief is not that joy equals happiness, but that joy equals authenticity
Do you mind if I link your posts to my site or blog?
Mind? Hell no I don't mind! And if you want to pass them on to your friend Oprah, I'm okay with that too.
