confessions of a joy rebel

out in the yard
out in the yard, nikon d50 digital

1.I missed being a leap year baby by 11 hours

2.I met my husband in a bar

3.I adore olives

4.I have lived in six states and on guam

5.which means I am a subject matter expert on packing

6.having said that, when you are used to everything you own fitting in a 10 ft uhaul trailer, buying a house is terrifying

7.which I did in 2006 with my husband (who was not my husband at the time)

8.and it was scary. And also the most beneficial thing I have ever done for myself

9.when I was seven, I broke my arm so badly, they had to knock me out to set the bone.

10.we have two rescued dogs. Donnelly (also referred to as boog or boogs) is a weimaraner and Keely is a weim mix

11.keely was SEVERELY neglected when we got her and rehabilitation took months

12.My husband proposed to me at our favorite camping spot, by a lake at sunrise

13.I consider dr pepper a reason to live

14.I can’t whistle

15.or watch scary movies. Even slightly creepy movies

16.I have four tattoos.

17.I’m sort of over the whole tattoo thing but I appreciate mine very much. They help tell my story

18.I have been married once before-to my high school sweetheart when I was 19.

19.it lasted about 4 years before we broke up

20.which hurled me into a major internal exploration and started me on my creative and spiritual journey

21.which has gotten better and deeper and more profound every year since

22.I go to a unity church and I adore it. It took a long time to find a spirituality that fit me though.

23.I collect buddhas. I even have one in my bathroom.

24.I started playing around with photography about 4 years ago

25.if I bet you money on something, don’t take me up on it unless you just feel like losing some money. I only do it when I am absolutely sure I am right.

26.my husband and I like to say we did everything backwards: we bought a house, then got engaged, then adopted our first ‘kid’ (boogs) and THEN got married

27.I get up before dawn most morning and walk the dogs. They aren’t all that appreciative honestly.

28.I graduated from Oklahoma state university with a degree in marketing

29.In my mid twenties, I managed a band that went on to get signed by a major label

30.and I got ditched the day they signed the contract

31.I only snickered a little bit when they got dropped a year later

32.I make a mean grilled cheese sandwhich

33.I love all types of music from metal to Christmas carols.

34.one of the highlights of my life was seeing Marilyn Monroe’s name on the sidewalk outside Mann’s Chinese theater in Hollywood.

35.I don’t know if I want (human) kids.

36.I am a pisces

37.I read books over and over

38.same with favorite movies

39.I say dude a lot

We have a lot in common! I had an early first marriage that lasted 4 years. I love Dr Pepper and I'm not sure I'm going to have human babies. And, you know I love to rescue doggies. :)

I love these shots too. The SP is too cute and those shoes are adorable.

i can't whistle either which is a huge handicap being a beloved dog owner. i find myself clicking(like to call a horse) or clapping, but my dogs always completely ignore me. my son is now trying to teach me.

Brandi,
I found your lovely blog through Tabitha at I Choose Bliss. How nice to find you! I've been posting on my blog about Joy too. A very important focus in my life, as it seems to be in yours. Perhaps you'll check it out! We can all use all the joy we can muster, eh?
P.S. Love the sandal photo. Such cute shoes! I adore sandals. :-) I've bookmarked your site and will be returning.
Blessings,
Jan

What a terrific blog! I also love Dr.Pepper and my dog's a rescue too. Greatest joy ever, helping overcome his fears and trauma.

Bless you for this wonderfully positive little corner on the net.

Cheers!

I love what you pick with your camera. I also share #25—funny how few people seem to, isnt' it?
