mission monday:: kind of a question

GoddessGuidebook.com : Soul Comparing from Goddess Leonie on Vimeo.

So, I was watching the above video from the gorgeous and amazing leonie and her message really hit home for me.

In the video, Leonie addresses those moments that I know I've had so many of...when you look around at all the wonderful creativity out there and question whether your own expression matter. I love that she so honestly faces those fears and doubts in a way that is really kind and comforting and strong.

What I took away from the video, ultimately, was that while there may be so many rocking artists and creative expressers out there, that doesn't mean that my own unique expressions don't matter or that there isn't room for them. She affirmed for me that the act of expressing my creativity was so important to the fulfillment of ME, if no one else.

So today's mission is not so much a mission as it is a question.

Being a joy rebel to me is about the joy in living authentically. And I find that I do this sort of by default when I connect with the people and world around me through photography.

I was wondering what being a joy rebel meant to anyone else? And what are those expressions of self where you find yourself naturally feeling joy??

If the answer is 'I don't know', I think that's totally okay. And I also don't think that the questions have to prompt a deeper inner exploration (though they may). It may be as simple as looking at what you are surrounded by, or when you find yourself laughing the most or when you feel most relaxed in your body. There are SO MANY ways to express yourself.

The way you decorate your home or the way you dress, the gifts you give, the food you make, the way you view the world. Your love of movies or books or the way you cut your hair or your innate ability to unearth treasures in thrift stores. The way you HAVE FUN (most likely the way you have fun).

I would love to know your thoughts~

rock on joy rebels!

Great question, Brandi!

I believe that living an authentic life is about expressing love, care, compassion and joy in every moment. Not always an easy thing to do but I feel like I am much more aware of my actions now than I was a few years ago. I feel joy in so many things, even the small things. I feel joy in spending time with my kids, creating in my studio, chats with friends, striking up a conversation with a complete stranger and walking away in a happier mood, going to the beach, a nice hot drink of tea, watching a movie, reading a book, visiting blogs...geez, there are so many things that bring me joy. That has to be a good thing and I try to spread that feeling wherever I can.

I think I am a joy rebel
at those moments
when i am the most sad
and tired and down.
Because those are the moments
when i am REALLY looking for the
sun, for the laughter for the things that are my blessings.
it's in my moments of gratitude that i sing and dance the loudest, silliest and with the most abandon!

i think it is all about connecting with your deepest inner truth and happiness... then daring to share that with the world is being a joy rebel.
