I type this sitting in a lawn chair in my back yard as the dogs perform their very important duties of sniffing every smell there is to smell and eating grass.
I'm in running pants, a tee shirt and zip up hoodie...and my penguin slippers (cause that's stylin' ya'll). It's probably close to 70 degrees and sunny.

Those of you reading this in wisconsin right now hate me. I understand. Texas doesn't get much winter, this is true. But even though cold is a very relative term around here, it doesn't diminish the feeling of christmas everywhere...at least for me.
(the dogs have now moved on to perimeter checks)
So I thoroughly enjoyed photographing the wonderful christmas decor at austin ranch where we had our office christmas party on friday.

Thank you ishmagination for the texture!
A friend of mine in new york was incredulous when I casually threw out that we'd partied at a ranch...like ranches are just willy-nilly around here. (excuse me, keely is trying to eat a rock. goofy dog).
And in some parts of texas, real working cattle or horse ranches are the norm. But I still live in the metroplex so the majority of ranches close by are more for recreation-horse back riding and that sort of thing. Which I didn't do this year but did go out and pet the horses and told them I wanted to take them home with me.

My what big balls you have! Ba dum DUM
I'll be sharing those shots soon, as well as the beautiful grounds. Until then, I hope you enjoy a little slice of western christmas...

Man I love me some Christmas, and the new blog header rocks!
Lovely photos, as usual. That textured photo is, well, wow. It looks like the shot was taken by looking into one of those old-fashioned, crackling mirrors, you know?
I'm not sure I like the idea of 70-degree weather at Christmas. One year I remember wearing shorts on December 10th, but that was definitely a fluke (hence, why I remember it). But hey, to each her own! A Western Christmas sounds so different :)
