chocolate cake for breakfast

going...going...gone!

I've never been big on breakfast items for breakfast. First, just the smell of eggs can trigger my gag reflex. Also, for whatever reason, my stomach is often unsettled when I first get up and greasy breakfast meats are unappealing. Also, not a fan of milk so there goes cereal.

Geez, now that I write that out, I sound like a really picky eater. I'm generally not that picky but it does seem that most of the stuff I don't like are breakfast staples which means that I haven't had a 'normal' breakfast in I don't know how long.

I tend to either crave sweet or cheesy and today, on a cold COLD sunday, nothing sounded better than a slice of my mom's death by chocolate cake heated up in the microwave for 30 seconds until it was all warm and melty.

And a dr pepper of course.

What's your favorite breakfast? Or...what's your food idiosyncrasies?

Your mom's cake looks to die for! I don't think I could handle chocolate cake for breakfast. Too sweet for my blood. ;)

But I generally don't like many breakfast options, besides pancakes, and who has the time to cook those every morning?

This year, I discovered kefir, which is a fermented milk thing halfway between buttermilk and liquid yogurt, just chock full of beneficial bacteria (so if you have lactose intolerance, you can still digest this).

Sounds horrible, but it's not, especially since they put smoothie-type flavorings in it. My faves are pomegranate and raspberry.

i never realized i had "food idiosyncrasies" until i got married. i am a huge non-breakfast food for breakfast kinda gal. my husband will literally leave the room when i'm eating, say leftover chinese at 8am. you can keep your pancakes...i'll take cold pizza any day.

meredith-lol...kefir does sound terrible but I'll take your word for it that it's good :-)

elena-oh, I've so had hostess cupcakes for breakfast too!

gsg-I know! It doesn't seem like they should go together but they do. I'm also a fan of dp and reese's peanut butter cups

jodie-OMG, warmed up chinese is the best! And pasta-they both warm up so good!

Brandi, that cake looks so yummy. Although I adore cereal and milk I've never been big on breakfast either. But, from time to time a peppermint pattie in the morning makes me giddy for the day. :)

Growing up I had a Little Debbie swiss roll cake every morning and a glass of coke before school. I haven't progressed to much since then. I like breakfast food, but usually sweet stuff wins out.

Ohhhhhh gawwwd !!! Why did I look, WHY did I have to look at that yummy "death by chocolate" pic?

Me, I cannot have cheesecake in my fridge EVER in the morning....I LOVE it with my coffee, first thing!!

(now I have to stay up and make something chocolatey!!)

That cake looks AMAZING!!!! Mmmmmmmm! I bet it would go well with orange pekoe tea (milk, no sugar). Chocolate and tea are my favourite :-)

I love breakfast food...and lunch food...and supper food...and desserts :-P My biggest food idiosyncrasy is that I love what my husband calls "exploded meals." Instead of eating a sandwich I'll have bread and butter with some ham slices, cheese, and veggies on the side. Matthew prefers his meals put together, but I love nibbling :-)

Can I come live at your house!? Ever see Bill Cosby's routine about how he gave his kids chocolate cake for breakfast...has eggs, flour, all sorts of good things...they had a glass of milk with it...everything was fine until his wife saw what he was doing. Then the kids bailed on him. Funny! I have to have a cup of 'liquid courage' from my favorite LOCAL coffee shop. And maybe one of their blueberry muffins. On the weekend. Nothing. I don't care for breakfast much either, at least not during regular breakfast hours! Enjoy the day! Erin

I never ate breakfast until about four years ago when I had to force myself into a breakfast routine because...it's supposed to be the most important meal of the day. Problem is that when I eat breakfast, I feel like I need to be eating all day long....when I go without breakfast, I will just eat lunch and dinner and be content with that. Maybe I'm not normal. lol

Anywhoo, while that chocolate cake looks absolutely delicious, I would only be up to eating it for afternoon tea. I have to be in the mood for sweet foods as I've always been a savoury food gal. :)

I started drooling at the title. Lol! :D
Very traditional continental breakfast at home, no cooked foods then.

diane-your breakfast sounds awesome

boho and shari-I have eaten cheesecake for breakfast myself !

mama bear-i love snacky stuff too!

tes-lol...yeah, I love that cosby routine

serena-my husband doesn't eat breakfast either. I think we all have our own natural rhythms and maybe yours don't include something in the morning :-)

paula-now I tend to like cooked/warm foods though I occasionally like crackers and cheese or something...
