*very sad update on murphy*

Hi all.

I feel sick telling you this but Murphy passed away unexpectedly yesterday afternoon after his surgery to repair his broken leg. It was completely unexpected as all tests indicated he was in reasonably good health (considering) and that the surgery should have been routine. It could have been anything-a random fluke, his heart worm could have been worse than tests showed, he could have been injured worse by the car than they thought...

Jason, who was able to meet Murphy on friday before the surgery is especially upset as he bonded with the dog.

I'm sorry guys. I'm sorry for us and I'm sorry for you guys too. I know many of you had already started to get invested (bless your big hearts) and it hurts knowing that not only are we disappointed, others are as well.

The only solace I have is knowing that he passed surrounded by people that cared about his well being and not alone on the side of the road.

Thank you all for your prayers and love and support-

Brandi

Brandi,
Your heart is so filled with love. What a gift you give to these beautiful animals that have touched your life.

...and he is not alone on the other side of the road, either...

Prayers and hugs,
Lance

Oh gosh, how incredibly sad. But you're so right - he died knowing he was cared for and he died knowing people loved him and he wasn't alone and that all we can hope for in the end.

My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

I'm just now catching up and my heart is breaking...but maybe god knew that where murphy really needed to be, was with his companion who had also died...that being with him, was truly where his healing could take place....

Brandi,
I'm so sorry to hear about Murphy. Thank you for caring so much about him. All I can think is that he missed his owner and wanted to be with him. I pray that they have found each other again.

Brandi, I am so sorry! I'm kind of stunned. I agree, it's better he passed surrounded by love than alone.

sending you love and hugs brandi.

it is amazingly beautiful what you offer to these animals and how comforting it must have been for him to have such kindness by his side before he left.

I'm so very sorry, Brandi. I can only imagine how you must feel, having two pups of my own. In spite of Murphy's passing, you were a great blessing to him.

So sorry, Brandi.

Murphy has his brand new Sparkle Suit and is chasing (but not catching!) Sparkle Rabbits around a pond in a lush park that has never seen or heard a car or any sort of danger...and I'm sure his friend is there with him.

I only just read both posts concerning Murphy and I just cried...I'm so sorry for you and Jason. I have a feeling it was the heartworm that killed poor Murphy as it can be very dicey with heartworm, even after the initial treatment. I'm so glad that he found some love and caring before he passed. xo

Just catching up and came across your posts on Murphy. So sorry to hear his story. You guys are so awesome for taking on dogs that need rehabilitating, especially when you go through losing them like this. Whether they survive or not, they are lucky to have you there for them. Big hugs.

i am so very sorry. I am involved in golden retriever rescue and it is so hard to see how these wonderful animals have been treated by humans.
God bless you. Godspeed Murphy.

Ahh, poor pooch. I'm sorry that he didn't make it and he didn't get the opportunity to be loved by you guys!

Having lost my beloved pup just a few weeks ago, my heart goes out to you, your hubby, and your other pups. Even in the short time you had him, Murphy became part of your world. He was lucky to have been in your loving home.

My sympathy to all of you.
