what yoga is and isn't

crow pose
I can hold this pose-crow pose-for exactly .0275 seconds

It's a safe place. When I get on the mat, it's like I enter some protective bubble. It's just me and the mat and my breath.

It is not always fun and I don't always feel like doing it.

Sometimes everything flows and I can stretch beyond my limits.

Sometimes all I do is stumble over my feet the whole session.

It's a wake up call. But not like a jump into cold water wake up call. It's much more subtle and surprising...like when you are in the middle of doing laundry and all of a sudden you have a realization that totally changes how you view things.

And speaking of realizations, the whole self awareness thing ramps up by a bajillion.

Which is really annoying sometimes when you are trying to wallow in an old pattern and eat ice cream but you can't because your higher self decides to kick in and remind you that you don't need old negativity any more.

It does not make life easier. But it makes you softer and stronger at the same time.

It sounds wonderful, Brandi. I've never tried yoga, myself, altho I do warm up for belly dancing sessions with a stretch routine based on yoga poses. It doesn't sound like quite the same thing. ;)

Love the new header!

Yoga, is exactly that. Weird and yet I so look forward to my mat in the early morning. I have not yet attempted crow pose. But you make it look easy.
