love note #12 {this one's for you mother earth}

The last couple of days have been un-seasonally warm here in north texas-even for us. And a cold front is coming through in the next couple of days so I decided to get out and enjoy the temperate climates while I could.

I went to my local lake and started down my favorite trails. The paths were covered in dried grasses and greenbriar and when the wind blew, I was glad I'd thought to bring a hoodie with me.

No matter what season, no matter how brown the landscape is, I can find beauty anywhere.

Sometimes it's in shapes and silhouettes, textures, a splash of color, the way the sun hits.

I came to my favorite spot, an old picnic site on a little bluff overlooking the lake. And as I tend to do, offered profound thanks to mother nature, the wind, god, the universe, not even sure who for this life I have been given. For being able to experience nature like this, for having a body that works the way it's supposed to, for seeing magic everywhere.

That's really what my photography is, a way to express gratitude for the beauty in life...and even the not beautiful. Even the old and dried has lessons to share, a depth to their being where they are. I think that goes for people as well as lake grasses.

Here's to all of it...

Namaste

Gorgeous shots, amazing post. Your site just keeps getting better, Brandi. :) (Sorry I haven't been commenting much -- I've been out of commission for a while and just now catching up. You're wowing me!)

Hard to believe that DFW goes from loveliness to an ice storm! I love your post-processing, and the shots of the buildings and red berries are especially gorgeous. Thx for sharing!

As Carrie did, I came via Meredith. Can see a kindred spirit here. something mystical and magical in your pictures. The first one somehow unreal, from the fifties except the car ;~)
